Sudden Summer on the Horizon: Mallorca Treats Us to a Few More Beach Days

The Golden October adds a boost: This week will be warmer, the sea will warm up — but beware, from Saturday stronger rainfall is forecast again.

A Brief Appearance of the Sun

If you walked through Palma early this morning, you might have thought: just another autumn morning. Gray, a bit damp. Then the island tightened the reins. And suddenly summer is back on the agenda — at least for a few days.

Speaking from experience: yesterday I was briefly in Cala d'Or, the sidewalk cafés filled up, sunglasses were back in fashion. The forecast makes clear what many already notice: Wednesday and Thursday offer the best chances for beach weather.

When Will It Get Really Warm?

The week starts still patient. Monday morning and late morning may bring clouds and isolated showers. From the afternoon it clears up in many places. The high temperatures start at 23–26 °C, locally in the north up to 27 °C.

From Wednesday the thermometer climbs further: around 28 °C expected in Alcúdia and Capdepera, about 27 °C in Campos, Llucmajor, Sa Pobla and Palma. In Andratx and Sóller it will likely stay around 26 °C. In short: don’t leave your swim trunks at home.

Sea Temperatures and Wind

The water is still pleasantly warm. Current readings: Andratx ~23 °C, Pollensa ~22 °C. Many locals and visitors are going in now — yesterday I even saw someone swimming at nine in the morning wearing a swim cap. Those who are undaunted will be rewarded.

A word about the wind: at times a southeasterly wind picks up. Not a storm, more like a brisk tailwind that stirs the waves and invites the sun lounger to tango. Beachgoers should bring light jackets or a windshirt.

Enjoy — but Plan It Right

If you want to make the most of the week, plan your beach day for Wednesday or Thursday. Mornings are usually quieter; in the afternoon the wind sometimes joins in. Sunsets are particularly spectacular when the sky clears in the evening — ideal for a stroll along Playa de Palma or a sundowner in Portixol.

Showers Return

One important note: the fun has a pattern. From the coming Saturday meteorologists expect more pronounced rainfall again. Short-lived showers are possible in the meantime, but the big shift is expected over the weekend. If you're making plans for an outdoor weekend, keep them flexible.

For people from the German autumn holidays: this is the last big wave of the season, many hotels and venues are still open. At Playa de Palma this weekend the season closing is celebrated — after that, many things will calm down. So if you want one more party, sea and tapas, you have a short window.

A final tip: mornings before nine at the beach are the most relaxed. The air still smells of salt and pine. And the chance to go into the water with few people around is high.
